HOW TO RENT A LIFT TRUCK
First time renting a forklift? Look into a Yale forklift rental! Here are a few things you will need to consider when determining the proper equipment for your application.
CAPACITY/TRUCK SIZE
This is very important, you must know the max weight of what you need to carry. Once you know the weight you need carried, it will make it much easier for you to find the right truck. DO NOT GUESS! Not only could guessing put you or your employee at risk but the lift truck might not even be able to lift the weight, costing you time and money.
ELECTRIC OR LP
Will you require an Electric powered lift truck or a Gas-LP powered lift truck. You might have to check with your facility to see if there are any restrictions, sometimes LP powered forklifts are not permitted.
FORK LENGTH
Fork lengths on a standard truck are 42, 48, 60, 72 inches. Depending on the dimensions and height of the product you will need to choose the proper fork length. Make sure you know the dimensions of your product and our rental coordinators will be able to tell you what fork length you will need.
LIFTING HEIGHT
Measure how high the truck needs to lift (in inches). Lift trucks are a reliable way to move products up to substantial heights. Remember that some forklifts might not fit through standard doors or entryways. Always measure doorways (width and height), aisles and any overhead obstructions. Also remember that the forklift will need room to turn around (possibly in an aisle). Your application might require a 3-wheel sit-down or a narrow aisle truck.Check with you facility to make sure there are no height/width restrictions.
TIRES
What is the terrain that the truck must travel over? Indoor applications on hard surfaces can always use cushion tires (cushion tires are smaller and made of a hard rubber compound, cushion tire units are also usually more compact and maneuverable). Outdoor applications may demand pneumatic tires. (Pneumatic tires are larger and have deeper traction grooves allowing travel over wet, rougher conditions). Do you require non marking tires?
ATTACHMENTS
There are many attachments available to enhance your forklifts functionality. Some possible attachments you could choose from include: Side-Shifter, Rotator, Fork Positioner, Layer Pickers, Push-Pull, Clamps, etc. You can find out more about these clamps here
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Do you require any safety equipment? Some safety equipment you might want could include a Strobe Light, Backup Alarm, Fire Extinguisher, or Head Lights.
